Interesting show! And kudos to Lynda!! Terrific clutch performance! I thought the "spares" challenge between the Barneses and the Ballards was a neat feature [and that was the only time I've seen Chris _miss_ the Flying Eagle :o)]. As I've critiqued in the past, I like it a LOT better having the "skills" challenge really show off *skills*, rather than side-show antics. They sure made the 9-10 look easy..:o) Hard to guess what the condition was really like, but seeing bowlers playing, basically, down and in with balls that have mere-mortal-appearing reactions was a pleasant change. I was surprised at the announcing team: I guess I just assumed without thinking much about it that it'd be Randy and Rob. Chris and Dave did a great job, certainly. Chris makes more "technical" comments than Randy does -- I like it that way, but it reopens the old question of what the right balance is to attract and interest as many viewers as possible. I wonder if non-bowlers [or even bowlers who are not-real-technically-savvy] know what the announcers are talking about when they talk about how the bowlers are knowingly "breaking down the lanes" (as contrasted with merely observing that the lanes _are_ breaking down and that the shot is changing). OTOH, I thought that the "down the lane" commentators were extraneous and didn't add much. Overall it was great fun and I'm looking forward to September... /Bernie -- Bernie Cosell Fantasy Farm Fibers bernie@fantasyfarm.com Pearisburg, VA -- > Too many people, too few sheep <-- |

Interesting show, indeed. That was the first time I ever saw Liz Johnson struggle, and she nearly pulled it out anyway. But there were definitely too many cooks spoiling the broth. If there were two fewer announcers, it would've been better. |
