Are used surfboards worth it?

My friend told me that pretty much the only reason to sell a surfboard
is because it's damaged or something. But I was thinking about buying
a new one.

Is it true? Should I just spring for a brand new one?

If no surfer ever got desperate for money, and all his friends and
family weren't broke too it would be.

Not knowing suggests waiting until you know, and know what you want
might return the greatest value for your new board dollars.

http://www.hawaiiansurfauction.com/2007/results.htm

line M41: Surfboards Hawaii-Buzzy Trent Model shaped by Dick Brewer
11'0" (10) 1963
sold for $33,000!

The value of an used surfboard is whatever someone else is willing to
pay for it.

Do you live in/near Florida? We know where you can get a board
for free until someone else gets it from you.
