Benji Hill

Hello All.

I have seen this discussed a few years ago and thought I would start a new
thread.

I am an Australian Juggler, many or you would of read my posts or seen
videos of my contorted juggling etc.

I am considering working for Benji Hill, but before I committed with
anything, I wanted to know your experience of late with him.

Being in OZ, I have never met him, I have met a juggler who works for him
and all I get is praise about how great benji is!

My question...... "Has anyone worked for Benji? and if so would you
recommend him?"

I don't want to hear second hand opinions, they are pointless (its like
chinese whispers, it gets changed, so pointless!) . I want to hear of the
people who actually have worked for him etc.

Cheers to all!

James

I just met him about a week ago for the first time. He was very nice and
surprisingly helpful. He told me to do some wierd things such as turning
the opposite way for 180's.

Re: Benji Hill

I would recommend reading
http://groups.google.com/group/rec.juggling/browse_frm/thread/75eb14ede0361263/04a0018b94468e84?lnk=gst&q=Garfield+Benji&rnum=3&hl=en#04a0018b94468e84
especially Dan Holzman's remarks. Benji is a very good coach, but as a
boss and performer, he can be quite unethical. I've seen this first
hand, as have many others. He has stolen many other performers'
material, taught his "employees" to do the same, and has acted in other
ways that are unprofessional. On the other hand, he is able to get
work for a good number of jugglers. Leep all of these things in mind.
Also, you may want to discuss Benji with Jason Garfield. He'll give
you an ear-full.

This is probably not the best forum for discussion about people. My
suggestion is to get into private discussions with those who Like, and those
who don't like Benji. You should find plenty of both.

If you email me your contact information, I will forward it to the two or
three jugglers I know who would be best informed to comment on Benji as a
manager.

From my own experiance, I met Benji when I was 16 and about to compete in
the IJA Juniors championships. I got my #*&* kicked, but Benji was very
encouraging. Our paths have crossed a handfull of times in the 15+ years
since then and I have found him plesant but distant on each occasion. He's a
good juggler, and good coach. There are some well documented questions as
others have pointed out but I can't comment on that stuff.

Anyway, email me your contact info, and I will pass along to a few guys who
have worked with/for Benji.

Brian
