Well she breaks like me. First opening break, scratch. Second one
switching to side of the rack break goes shooting down toward the end
rail. Will watch more...

Finished watching. Not very impressed. I've been spoiled by watching
some really good straight pool lately. I've watched people run hundreds
of balls and never need the mechanical bridge once and she got into
situations where she used it several times. She did not break clusters
well -- again not surpising for a nine ball player who doesn't have to
deal with large clusters. By the end of the rack she is playing 9-ball
with a bunch of long sometimes multi-rail shots. As Fels says, you
can't do this in 14.1 because the precision on the leaves you need is
much much tighter than in 9-ball.

You have to remember that one of her teachers was Nagy. He was a real
talent who got lost in his own head.

Me. I was actually pretty impressed with her patterns. She passed up a
couple of opportunities to manufacture some break balls, but other than
that, I though she played great.

Now having said that, when she breaks open that third rack, I'm saying
to myself: she's got this one too. BUT THEN, she goes and passes on a
draw shot on the 13 and goes for the 6 instead!!! As soon as she sets
up for that, I sucked in my breath and knew she was a dead duck, er,
duchess, then.

Here's two that I remember. The story goes that he racked a 9 ball rack
then put 9 cards, numbered 1-9 in different spots on the table and
broke. He wanted to see if he could get the balls to land on the cards.
He did this for hours, without any succes, then went home. Another time
he ran 140 something and unscrewed his cue and left because a) a fly
landed on the table b) the sun went down or c) the cloth changed color.
:-) Just after he passed away, Jerry Tarantola and Janette Lee tried to
organize some type of tribute tournament but nothing came of it. I know
a couple of guys who knew him, when I get back from FL I'll pass on some
more Nagy stories.

Re: Tea with the Dutchess

I have to admit, with her snooker experience/background I expected higher
runs. She got herself into trouble a couple of times but usually made a
graceful recovery. Usually.
I didn't like the idea that she was using the bridge as often as she had
to... but I didn't see another reasonable option, when she did use it...
so that was probably the best option at the time.

Better position play over all I guess. But isn't that just the name of the
game?
