Canas has lost his magic ...

... he looked just an average player today - nothing at all to offer
except running around and not making mistakes. Most of the points he
won were unforced errors from Federer.

He must have played better than this last year v Federer, or else
Federer was even worse than I remember ...

In which case Federer is vastly improved and should win the FO with
ease right ?

Honestly, I have never known anyone to blow in the wind as easily as
you.

For what I remember, that's exactly what Caņas was doing last year:
defending with a very good depth in his balls (coming really near Federer's
baseline). I found it was funny to see such a ugly game style.

I just watched the first that of last year Miami's match. There were many
unforced errors from Federer, and a really amazing defense from Caņas (but
in a different style than Nadal, with a very short swing).

Yes, Canas' defense was really good in those matches. At that time I
considered him better defensively than Nadal or Federer. Now he's gone
downhill though. Perhaps he was juiced after his long break from the game.

It would hardly be a suprise, I suspected it then. Having said that, it's
just as likely that Federer is juiced now, or then, or both times.

The Argentineans practise on the court for two hours a day, then they
must practise in front of a mirror for two more hours saying "I'm not
guilty". - Vince Spadea on Argentine players and drug testing

Last year, he was coming off his drug suspension and probably still
had some residual benefits.

No fedfan here, but would not count those two losses against Roger.
