| ladies harness advice |
My girl fiend is looking for a new waist harness. She's currently using an old dakine, which she finds uncomfortable. She's 5'3" and about 105 lbs. Does anyone know of a good waist harness that fits the (smaller) ladies well? I know this is pretty subjective, but I thought there might be a consensus among the ladies. Brian |

I didn't find the same comfort factor with the DK Wahine. (5'3" 120) You're right. It's pretty subjective. Hope she finds a good fit. Mo -- Team Coyote http://www.teamcoyote.net |

On subject or harness fit, best thing is to get to your local shop and try a few, size / fit is something is off(just like in wetsuites), I wanted to upgrade mine few months back, and the best fit was a kitesurfing harness, something usefull actually came out that 'crazy' sport:) |

Thanks Mo and Sergio. She has an old DK (might be an old Thermoform?). It's harder than my Thermoform II for sure. Am looking at some of the Pro Limit harnesses. One thing I know from experience is that letting the lady in question try the harness on before purchase is a good idea. Not just for fit, but so that they take responsibility for how it looks, which for some women counts a great deal. Anyhow the Pro Limit "pure girl" is one we're checking out. |

Michael, Despite more shoreline and water than 49 other states (I think), we don't have any windsurfing shops where she can try anything on. We just ordered a Pro Limit to try, but the Pure girl that I saw did not look as nice as the Dakine thermoform in terms of shaping. We'll see I guess. And now for another perspective... I have been using a DaKine Wahine seat harness for a looooong time, and bought a back-up for it a few years ago. I keep trying waist harnesses, and just can't like them at all. I'm sticking with the seat harness. But it is a personal thing. If I find a waist harness that is comfy, I might get one. Even if they are comfortable in the shop/on the beach, once I get out on the water and using the thing, it doesn't work for me. So I highly recommend trying before buying, but also suggest analyzing one's body type very carefully and seeing if she can try someone's on the water before committing to purchase. Or, move near me as I seem to go through them quite rapidly! I'm "short-waisted" and the waist harnesses are (choose 1 or more options....) profoundly uncomfortable, ride up, don't let me breathe, make my lower back hurt, and don't work all that well for light wind/ big sails(7.0-9.5)/marginal planing conditions. I'm clearly NOT someone that was made for a waist harness. I've had 4 or 5 so far, demo'd at least 4 others, and sold or given them away. I do try new models as they come out, so I'm not closed-minded on the subject. Just real uncomfortable! Hi Brian, Have her try the Pure Girl by Prolimit. We sell both the Dakine Wahines and the Pure Girls at our shop. The Pure Girls by Prolimit are actually more cushy -but of course every harness fits differently depending on the body type. Also, at her weight she's definitely an XS for the Pure Girls. Best of luck, -Rebecca Boardsports School & Shop www.BoardsportsSchool.com |

Rebecca, Thanks for the suggestions. We found that the Pure Girl sizing chart is way off the other brands, and not really accurate. XS was way too small. We had to try two to get the right match. It seems like that harness is more suited for long-waisted people, and my GF is not. So, we're still looking. brian "Rebecca" <rebeccageffert@gmail.com > wrote in message news:57d5bc80-cd74-4e72-b58b-e11f1cac524e@w4g2000prd.googlegroups.com... > Hi Brian, > > Have her try the Pure Girl by Prolimit.
