Bobby M sent the following review of Bam Bam Bigelow's Deli in Hamlin, PA:

This is in regards to Bam Bam Bigelow's Deli in Hamlin. I live in Hazleton
which is only maybe 2 hours from Hamlin if that. I went down there with a
friend of mine. I couldn't believe Bam Bam opened up a deli, so I was so
hyped up to see the Beast from the East himself. Well, first off it's
definitely not what you'd expect and secondly it's been open for a while
because I went up there months ago.

Anyway, it's a very small place but it's in a nice quiet location. It's
right next to a small shopping center. Hamlin is very small - it seems
pretty isolated. I didn't even know about the place until a friend from work
told me about it. Well, I was worried Bam Bam wouldn't be even be there. We
pulled up to this little place with picnic tables outside. He has pictures
all over the side window of him and I guess people from the area and people
he met along the way. It reminded me more of an ice cream stand. You can't
sit inside, there's a little space inside where you could stand and pick up
your food but that's about it.

He has lots of memorabilia hanging around. He has some autographs and
pictures from his ECW days, Sunny (Tammy Sytch) autographed picture, a movie
poster from (forgive me if I'm wrong) Snake Eater III ??? He has a poster
from what appears to be an old Collect or Sprint commercial. Lots of stuff.
I went there and sure enough he was behind the window but he didn't take the
orders. I was a little intimidated at first to talk to him because any big
guy with flames on his head is kind of intimidating besides I wasn't sure if
he was in a good mood at first.

I ordered a Turkey hoagie and oh my God, it was huge! All the food he serves
is big and he gets his meats fresh from New York. He has these 1 lb. burgers
called none other than 'The Beast' burgers. They've got to be seen to be
believed! My buddy ordered one and my jaw dropped. He finished it with ease.
Their hoagies are delicious. They're pretty high priced but worth it for the
size. He has T-shirts for sale. They have "Bam Bam Bigelow's Deli" on the
back in flaming letters. I got one.

That's when I finally asked him if he'd autograph something for me. He was
real cool, down to earth. I got a nice picture from a WWF magazine from '96
autographed. I shook his hand, he was just real down to earth. I didn't talk
much to him. Another funny thing is he flipped my friends burger. It was
just odd because I've been watching this guy in the ring since I was a kid
and there he is in normal clothes flipping burgers and handing out orders
and stuff.

I loved the place so much and the food that I went up there again the very
next day and ordered a Beast burger. I finished it after maybe an hour or
more; that's how big these burgers are. Probably 10,000 calories but it was

He was out this time but soon enough he came in his truck and he said,
"You're trying the Beast" to me. I'm not a big guy and I don't have a real
big appetite so it was funny me with this huge burger but after I finished
it, I went in and told him I wasn't going to be able to eat for a month. He
said 'You finished it? Wait, let me get the camera." I got my picture taken
with Bam Bam. Again, he was real cool and down to earth. I told him where I
was from and talked him a little bit and we didn't even discuss the
wrestling business. One thing I noticed is he curses a lot. We didn't even
know you get your picture with him for finishing 'The Beast'. My friend
apparently didn't know because he finished one with fries, but he didn't
tell anyone and we left. I really want to go back up there and see if my
picture is on the window with everyone else's now.

They serve mainly hoagies and burgers. They also have ice cream but that's
all I can remember. It's just a real small place, looks like a small ice
cream stand but it's worth the trip just to meet Bam Bam. I have a menu from
the place somewhere. He has some real nice menus too. On the side of the
menu is a picture of Bam Bam when he was ECW World Heavyweight Champion. Oh,
and there slogan is Bam Bam Bigelows Deli - "We're Already Famous" and "Can
You Handle The Beast".

I've never been to Abdullah's restaurant in Atlanta, but I've seen it on TV.
I don't know if it can really compare but Bigelow's burgers are really a
sight to see!
